Even if you haven’t, you’ve probably heard of HTML as it is the language that every single web page across the internet uses.
HTML as we have known it works with CSS, Java, Flash, and many other web languages to create dynamic content that we see on the user side.
A Brief History of HTML
HTML4, or HTML as you likely know it, was originally brought to the web over 20 years ago back in 1997. Kids have been born and reached adulthood in less time than HTML has been around. That’s a pretty impressive lifespan for anything that is tech-related.
In the early 2000s, XHTML was brought into the fold, but development didn’t stop there as it never does in tech. Instead, other platforms were created and then embedded into HTML pages.
Platforms like Flash and Java created opportunities for videos and other dynamic imagery to be placed on websites, and so plugins came to pass.
The downside of plugins is that they use so much power and memory to load. This creates lag time and ends up eating up your battery life.
Tech marched forward like it tends to do, and bam, HTML5 was developed.

Tools Needed for Creating HTML5 Websites
This one is pretty easy, depending on your experience or willingness to learn. One of the best tools out there for writing an HTML5 website is Adobe’s Dreamweaver.
If you’re a web developer or a web designer, which can be pretty interchangeable these days, you’re going to love HTML5, if you haven’t used it already.
HTML5 makes designing websites so much easier for you and still gives you that polished and professional look you’re seeking.
How Does HTML5 Apply to Logos?
The answer is really simple.
HTML5 logos can be animated without needing a plugin. Some logos are developed on the Flash platform just because it makes a much cleaner video logo that adds a professional touch.
Instead, you can use SVG or scalable vector graphics that are directly embedded into HTML5 to create a more dynamic presentation of your logo.
CSS graphics can also be inserted directly into HTML5 for similar effects.

Monster Energy uses SVG and CSS to create the animations you’ll find in their logo. It is all time-controlled with the images fading at regular intervals.
Like the others, this is built on an opensource platform, so you can see what lies behind the curtain. If you wanted to know the code behind it, you can even study it and replicate it yourself.

The Nintendo Switch logo is built using CSS and SVG. It matches the brand well and is well-suited for Nintendo’s line of products.

The Logo Factory has several different logos on their site to show what they can do. One of their examples is one that says Buy4Babes, and it is written for HTML5.

This one makes sense to have available in an opensource format because Google takes on so many contributions from outside users.
Telos clothing also uses HTML5 language in their animated logo. Take a peek and you’ll see that their words kind of appear out of nowhere.
Simple, yet elegant, you can recreate this one, too, if you were up to doing so.
Don’t worry if you feel like taking on HTML5 seems a bit daunting. There are plenty of tutorials available online to help you learn how to do it.
Udemy also has an animation tutorial to begin teaching you how to use CSS3 to create dynamic websites that are much more engaging to the consumer. You can even learn how to create a site from scratch via one of their courses.
If you’re more on the beginner side, you can even head over to Mozilla’s animation developer to have them walk you through basic animation, controlling your animation, and working with it beyond just the starter steps.

Other Places You’ll Find HTML5
You’ll also come across HTML5 animations when you stumble upon pages that are incomplete. Instead of the 404 error, you could have a floating animation take the place instead.
If you’re in the middle of building a website, you might also consider creating an HTML5 “under construction” page that is both engaging and memorable for your potential customers.

Yes, you can use these utilities to build one-of-a-kind animated HTML5 logos, but you don’t need to stop there. You can create entire websites that reflect your brand’s creativity and personality.
Plus, you don’t need any extra support if you do it this way either.
No Support Needed
It is no secret that HTML has had its issues, especially with plugins that have traditionally been required to run dynamic content.
Thanks to HTML5 this is no longer an issue.
Websites that have been developed using HTLM5 do not need Flash support. In fact, many browsers do support HTML5, so it shouldn’t be a problem, and you’ll likely never notice that it’s even working in the background.
